Community Guidelines

Our Philosophy

The idea behind the creation of this site is that online communities, especially revolving around blogs, should feel more like a personal conversation between the author and the reader rather than a one-way flow of information. Our goal is to create a site where people can actually respond to the information they are reading, allowing both the reader and the author to learn more about the topic of conversation. We believe that by offering the ability to allow readers to share alternative perspectives, discussions improve and the community can grow stronger. In order to keep our community safe and allow for engaging discussions, users must remain thoughtful and respectful when discussing with other members of the community.

Commenter Expectations

When choosing to participate in discussion, you are expected to:

  • Use Appropriate Language
No foul language, hate speech, slurs, or offensive language that may be hurtful
  • Be Respectful
Challenging other’s ideas is encouraged, but personal insults or harassment is strictly forbidden.
  • Be Meaningful
If you’re asking a question, offering an opinion, or adding further information, make sure that your discussion seeks to improve on the discussion and add value.

Flagging Inappropriate Comments

We want to encourage a healthy community that remains positive, providing a safe environment for all users. To keep this positivity, users will be able to flag comments that they believe may violate the commenter expectations. Comments that are flagged will be reviewed by moderators before any actions are taken.

Content Moderation

Our goal with moderation is to not simply remove comments because we do not agree with them. We plan to keep all comments visible unless they violate the commenter expectations or if they contain:

  • Spam or Promotional Content
  • Misinformation
  • Intentionally Disruptive Content

Moderation actions will only be made if the reason for them is to maintain a positive, healthy community.

Banning Policy

Permanent or temporary bans is not something that we wish to do, but will be used if necessary as a last resort. Users may be punished through banning if they repeatedly violate our commenter expectations, harass other members, or continuously post harmful content after already receiving warnings.
